Tracing oxygen traces in nitrogen blankets - Inventech
Many (chemical) factories buy raw materials or refined food supplies. When shipping the materials (by truck, rail, inland vessel, etc.), “blanketing” or inerting with nitrogen is of great importance. In this way, volatile substances or substances that readily oxidize during shipment are kept in the desired form or condition and can be safely transported. This prevents damage to the raw materials and the risk of explosion due to exposure to (too much) oxygen. Both the shipper and the recipient check these “blankets of nitrogen” with an oxygen analyser.
