NIR measurement of food products
A Near Infrared measurement can be particularly valuable to check and regulate the composition and quality of incoming (mixed) raw materials, semi-finished products and/or end products. NIR can be used for both a qualitative and a quantitative measurement. For the latter, think of the representation of the composition of a product (the percentage of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, moisture, etc.). Also qualitative properties such as texture and sensory properties can be guaranteed. NIR is also widely used for fraud detection, for example the addition of inferior ingredients, and finally for validation of the origin of a product.
