Real-time viscosity measurement essential for cardboard quality, waste and energy reduction

Viscosity is an important indicator of the particle size distribution. Changes in the particle size distribution can affect properties such as density, rheology and layer thickness. Properties related to this are, for example, the flexibility, strength and usability of the (corrugated) cardboard. A viscosity measurement is therefore an important measurement in the production of corrugated board for the packaging industry. Real-time inline viscosity measurement in cardboard production is essential to obtain continuous quality, not to waste material and to optimize energy consumption.

Sofraser's inline viscosity measurement for the packaging industry

The Sofraser MIVI viscometer is ideal for continuous and real-time measurement of the adhesive layer in the manufacture of cardboard. With an in-line measurement you are able to increase the production capacity and quality of your products. The Sofraser MIVI sensor is a resonance frequency viscosity meter and the robust analyzer has no parts that are subject to wear. The Sofraser MIVI analyzer is available in various versions with additional options. There are various mounting options, such as wall mounting (in a reactor or vessel), in-line (bypass) and in a measuring chamber (for small and flexible pipes).

The MIVI viscometer is suitable for process temperatures up to 300 ° C, ATEX certified and also measures the density.

Measuring viscosity in starch is actually measuring viscosity in polymers of natural origin

Starch is nothing but a polymer of natural origin. For this reason, watch the video about the experiences of using the MIVI viscometer from Sofraser by Reynolds Polymer Technology.
