Moisture determination in liquids and slurries allows you to improve the quality of your product and to ensure yields. In particular in the food industry, moisture analysis in liquids and slurries is used to determine the dry matter content in a product. Moisture analysis is directly linked to the quality of a product, but also to the yield and therefore an important parameter when determining the ROI. The moisture content in a product also influences the viscosity and therefor the production process.

For moisture determination in liquids and slurries, NIR analysis and the microwave technique are the best ways for concentration measurements (dry or solids measurements). NIR is suitable for a wide dynamic range of moisture content and it also measures other parameters simutaneously. However, the penetration depth is smaller and for non-homogeneous products this could be a disadvantage. The microwave technique (TEWS) is very suitable for inhomogeneous products due to the larger penetration depth, but the technique is less suitable for higher moisture percentages.
